2023-09-25 17:52

Ms Victoria Shikwambi, Inspector of Education Khomas Region Circuit 4,

Mr Sackeus Nghuulikwa, Principal of Highline Secondary School,

Dear Teachers and Learners,

Good Morning!

Highline Secondary School is an outstanding public school in Khomas Region. It is a great honor for me today to attend the Awards Ceremony of the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship held by Highline. Thanks for your invitation, Principal Nghuulikwa. It is always a great pleasure to meet with our lovely young learners.

First of all, I wish to extend my warmest congratulations to the eight prize-winners of the 2023 Chinese Ambassador Scholarship. This prize is not only a recognition of your hard work and excellent performances of the previous year, but also it is an encouragement for you to make even greater achievements in the future.

In the meantime, I would like to tell all the learners present here that all of you should be proud of yourself. Whether you have won the prize or not, all of you should believe in your own talent and potential. As long as you study hard, you will make your own progress in school learning, and you will realize that you can indeed achieve excellence.

Education is of key importance to every individual, every family and every nation. Therefore, China has long put education as a key area for bilateral cooperation with Namibia. The establishment of the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship in Highline Secondary School, is exactly one vivid illustration of this idea.

Besides jointly establishing the scholarship, the Chinese Embassy and Highline have also conducted other important cooperation over the years, for example, we hosted the Chinese Bridge competition, set up Chinese language courses for Highline learners, and arranged visits to China. As the new Chinese Ambassador to Namibia, I will continue and build on the existing good relations between the Chinese Embassy and Highline Secondary School, and I am looking forward to more cooperation during my term of office.

Last but not least, I wish to once again extend our sincere greetings and best wishes to the faculty and staff of Highline Secondary School. With your consistent efforts, Highline will surely achieve better development results and cultivate more outstanding learners.

I thank you!
