| 2004/10/29 |
| China has been reelected as a member of the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
Chinese Ambassador Zhang Yishan says that since China joined the Council in the early 1970s, the country has actively participated in its meetings and activities, and has played an important role in its subsidiary bodies.
China sees its reelection as a reward for its endeavours, and as encouragement to continue its hard work.
The UN Economic and Social Council has 54 members, elected for 3-year terms by the General Assembly, and 18 members are reelected each year. |
