China Space Delegation to Pay a Goodwill Visit to Namibia

At the invitation of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Namibia, a delegation of six members from China Manned Space Program including astronauts and space officials will pay a goodwill visit to Namibia from 1st to 7th July 2010. Among them is Mr. Yang Liwei, the first astronaut China sent to the aerospace by Shenzhou V Manned Spacecraft, who is therefore entitled the "National Hero" by the Chinese people.

Namibia is the first African country to receive the Delegation from China Manned Space Program. During their stay in Namibia, the Delegation will attend the Launching Ceremony of the Exhibition Hall at China Space Tracking, Telemetry and Command (TT&C) Station in Swakopmund (Opposite the Swakopmund Salt Works) at 9:00 a.m. on the morning of 2nd July 2010, and participate in the Opening Ceremony of Namibia Science Week 2010 in the University of Namibia (Main Hall) at 9:00 a.m. on the morning of 5th July 2010. The Delegation will also have audiences with state leaders of the Republic of Namibia.
