On October 11th, 2010, the send-off party for six Namibian students to study medicine in China was held by Namibia Chinese Loving Heart Organization (NCLHO) at the Conference Hall, Safari Hotel Windhoek. Among the invited guests were H. E. Mr. Wei Ruixing, Chinese Ambassador to Namibia, Mr. Zhang Yiming, Political Councilor & Deputy Chief of Mission of the Chinese Embassy, Hon. Dr. David Namwandi, Deputy Minister of Education, Hon. Petrina Haingura, Deputy Minister of Health & Social Services, leaders from both the Chinese and the Namibian business communities, officials from relevant Namibian government departments and the Chinese Embassy, and the parents of the Namibian students.

In his remarks, Ambassador Wei commended NCLHO for its sponsorship of Namibian students, and its persistent efforts and positive contributions to the skill training and talent cultivation for the dire need of nation building of Namibia, and called upon the Chinese nationals residing in Namibia to carry forward the fine traditions of the Chinese nation, operate and expand their businesses with wisdom and hard work and make continuous contributions to the wellbeing of the local community and the economic and social development of Namibia. While extending congratulations to the six Namibian students, Ambassador Wei encouraged them to be always optimistic and in high spirits in pursuing their medical studies and wished them successes by overcoming difficulties and through diligent study.

In the cordial and friendly atmosphere, Hon. David Namwandi, Deputy Minister of Education, and Hon. Petrina Haingura, Deputy Minister of Health & Social Services, made their remarks respectively, expressing their heartfelt appreciation to NCLHO and its Chairman, Mr. Jack Huang, for the valuable scholarships offered to Namibian students and urging the six Namibian students to work hard during their academic studies in China and at the same time serve as “Namibian Ambassadors” for the promotion and development of the friendship and cooperation between Namibia and China and between the two peoples.

The six Namibian students voiced with emotions their sincere gratitude to NCLHO for providing them with full scholarships to study in China, and their commitment to concentrate on their academic studies with perspiration and persistence. They pledged to come back to serve their country and people with the knowledge and expertise they will have learned in China.

Namibia Chinese Loving Heart Organization is a charity organization, which aims at providing assistance to the vulnerable and disadvantaged Namibians as well as sponsoring Namibian students to pursue their medical studies in China. It was founded in 2007 with the initiative by Mr. Jack Huang and the active response and the concerted efforts by the Chinese business community. During the past three years, NCLHO has been actively involved in charity and many other social activities, making donations of cash or in kind from time to time to the needed Namibians. With the cooperation and assistance by the Namibian Ministry of Education in the process of receiving and reviewing the applications and establishing the short list among many candidates for the scholarships during the first half of 2010, NCLHO selected six Namibian students and granted them full scholarships to study medicine in Nantong University of Jiangsu Province. They are the first batch of beneficiaries of five-year scholarship program of NCLHO.
